This morning our Year 13 students celebrated an impressive set of A level results, with 40% of the year group achieving A* or A grades. The cohort achieved a pass rate of 100%, with many students securing places at top universities including the University of St Andrews, Durham University, Newcastle University and the University of Liverpool.
58% of grades were awarded as A*-B with an overall average grade of a B. As always, there were some excellent individual performances, including:
- Alex Pallas who will go on to study Maths and Physics at Warwick University after achieving an A* in Maths, A* in Physics, an A in Chemistry and an A in Further Maths.
- Daniyal Iqbal who secured an A* in Maths, A in Physics, A in Chemistry and an A in Further Maths. His next step is to study Medicine at Aberdeen University.
- Jack Randall will take up Physics at Newcastle University after scoring an A* in Maths, A in Physics, A in Chemistry and an A in Further Maths.
- Jed Bird received an A* in Maths, A* in Chemistry and an A in Further Maths, and will continue to study Chemistry at St Andrews.
- Chase Curley was awarded an A* in Economics, A in Maths, A in Physics and will go on to complete a degree apprenticeship with Turbo Power Systems.
- Amy Wilson bagged an A* in Product Design, A in Geography and a B in Physics, in preparation for studying Interior Design at Northumbria University.
- Ashton Rogers achieved an A in Chemistry, B in Maths and a B in Product Design, and will study Chemistry with an Industrial Placement at Durham University.
- Ella Patterson earned an A Geography, a B in Chemistry and a B in Economics, and go on to study Geography at University of Liverpool.
- Christopher Munro scored an A in Maths, a B in Chemistry and a B in Biology, ready to begin Medicinal Chemistry at Leeds.
- Sage McLean will continue to study Law in York after gaining an A in Law, B Economics and B in Psychology.
- Daniel Dodds gained a place at Newcastle University studying Environmental Science after receiving an A in Geography, B in Chemistry and B Product Design.
- Aaron Davidson will also be heading to Newcastle University to study Law after securing an A in Geography, B in Biology and a B in English Language.
- Kayleigh Porter earned an A in Biology, A in Chemistry, a B in Maths and a C in French, ready to begin studying Biochemistry at Queens University Belfast.
Speaking of her delight at the results, Jill Traynor, Assistant Head and Sixth Form Lead, said: “I am incredibly proud of our students. During their time with us, they have worked with dedication to achieve their full potential and are a credit to us, themselves and their families. We wish them the best of luck in their chosen next steps.”

Students have earned places at prestigious universities and have very bright futures ahead of them. I wish them all the luck in the world as they embark on the exciting next chapter of their lives as young adults.”
