We were delighted to host over 580 special visitors at our recent Year 5 and Year 6 Open Evening at Ashington Academy!
It was wonderful to welcome so many prospective students and their families to meet with staff and students, and to take part in lots of activities across school. With speeches from our Senior Team and Student Leaders, sampling tasty treats in the dining hall and prizes galore for students who successfully solved the secret phrase on their tour around the academy, there was a lot to keep our guests busy and informed!
Furthermore, as they made their way around the academy, Year 5 and Year 6 students were able to learn about Power across the Curriculum in English, participate in Zentangle free doodling in Art and experience scientific experiments in our labs with microscopes, reflex stimulation, methane bubbles, motors and magnets. Coupled with karaoke in the Music department, trampolining, football and netball in PE and feather icing biscuits in Catering, there really was something for everybody!
